Interlayer Effect on Connection of Mild Steel ST37 and Stainless Steel 201 on Rotary Friction Welding

Friction welding is a type of solid state where the process carried out in phase to combine various types ferrous and non-ferrous metals that cannot be welded by fusion method but for different results are less than optimal due cracks on surface differences mechanical properties cause result brittle, therefore an interlayer used. In this study, observations were made joint friction using dissimilar metal material between mild steel ST37 stainless 201 with copper interlayer. The test will tensile see maximum strength hardness value variation 0.3 mm, 0.5 1 mm without conclusions obtained are: (1) effect addition rotary includes phase, forging parameters form motor power, angular speed, change specimen length greater compared while duration time (2) at 482.43 MPa 321.34 VHN.
